The London Wildflower Story

Hi! I’m Nikki and I founded London Wildflower in 2017, when I began hosting pottery sessions in my mini London studio. I started out by hosting ‘Crafternoon Teas’, incorporating an afternoon of pottery followed by a traditional British High Tea. Since then I’ve hosted many groups and I’ve been incredibly fortunate to meet individuals from all walks of life to share the joy of pottery.

London Wildflower was formed on the principle that anyone can be creative with clay, from families with troops of kids, to busy business professionals. I find that working with clay is incredibly meditative and forgiving, allowing anyone with an interest to discover an engaging activity that will leave you feeling accomplished every time you mould a handful of clay.

My Approach to Teaching

My approach to teaching is very similar to how I’ve discovered the joy of working with clay: I teach basic techniques and then let participants find their own way with clay, providing guidance where necessary, but also allowing for the intuitive nature of working with clay to guide the learning process.

The Evolution of the Pottery Kit

The idea for pottery kits came about during a workshop one day when a participant asked if they could purchase some tools. I decided to put together a kit with some clay, tools and basic instructions, however I soon realised that ‘basic’ instructions weren’t really enough and the ‘booklet’ evolved into what it is today - a fairly lengthy guide (I’m always happy to answer questions so please get in touch if you have any!). The kits have now been sold worldwide, with many people discovering the joy of pottery, particularly during the Pandemic.

Using Nature within my Work

As the company name suggests, I love to incorporate nature as a theme within my work, creating pieces that take inspiration from plants and natural items, as well as using them within the pottery itself. I often use the nature theme and host botanical sessions with partners such as Daylesford Farm.

We have many more projects and partnerships on the way and I look forward to sharing these in the future! Please do get in contact if you’d like any more information on any of our initiatives or information about our workshops or kits!
